Electric buses will run on the roads of the federal capital, when and on which routes? See Achi-News

ISLAMABAD: With the arrival of the first batch of 30 of the total 150 buses from China, electric buses are likely to hit the roads of the federal capital by next month.

The first batch will reach Karachi after three weeks and the buses will reach the capital in May.

After the arrival of the buses, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) through its contractor National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) will start operating the buses from the temporary convention center as it has a charging facility for the buses that is available.

In the meantime, a suitable depot will be established at no point.

The second batch of 70 buses is likely to be dispatched two weeks later and the final batch of 50 buses was due to be dispatched from China on May 5.

All 150 buses will be operated on 13 new routes. Sources said that the first 30 buses will be run on two routes, which will be decided by CDA Chairman Anwar-ul-Haq in a few days.

Sources say that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to inaugurate the bus service.
