Efforts continued for many years
According to reliable sources, efforts have been going on for many years to use NSG for his original work. Examination of this proposal began after Amit Shah took charge of the Union Home Ministry. In 2019 itself, the SPG cover deployed for the security of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and members of the Gandhi family was removed. At the same time, it was also examined that the black cat commandos of the NSG should be exempted from VVIP security. The VVIPs whose security has been transferred to the NSG, should be handed over to the central paramilitary forces. Reports have been taken from many senior officials in this regard. After the termination of the security of the Parliament complex on December 13, efforts have been started to remove the PDG from there. The security of the Parliament complex has been transferred to me CISF, however, found no lapse on the part of the PDG on December 13. This was also revealed in the inquiry report. The NSG issue has also progressed
After that, it was believed that a lot of money was spent on training and equipping the Parliamentary Duty Group. It was a special power. In such a situation, what responsibility should be given to this force now? It was decided that PDG should be deployed for VIP security. The CRPF already has a special wing for VIP protection. With this proposal, the issue of ‘NSG’, which had been in the files for many years, also moved forward. An important meeting on this topic was held a few months ago. IB Chief, CRPF DG and NSG DG were present in it. According to sources, a meeting is also proposed this week in the North Block. The security of nine such VVIPs in the country, who have NSG protection, will be transferred to the CRPF. These include former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani, former Jammu and Kashmir CM Farooq Abdullah and Ghulam Nabi Azad, BSP Chief Mayawati, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu and former Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh are included.
Will the new security squad receive special allowances?
Like the Special Ranger Group (SRG), the CRPF’s security duty group may get a new name. Sources say, NSG commandos get special allowances. SPGs are also given similar allowances, so the new VVIP security squad will also get the same allowances. At present, the VIP security unit of CRPF does not get special allowances. It is another matter that most of the VIPs in the country have CRPF protection. After the final approval of this proposal, the National Security Guard (NSG) will be tasked with its core duties, i.e. specific tasks like counter-terrorism and kidnapping operations. After the NSG is removed from VIP security duties, about 500 commandos will be released.
