New Jersey: In a shocking incident, HIV infection was found in three women who had facials. Three women who received vampire facials at an unauthorized spa in New Mexico have been infected with HIV.

“In 2018, evidence suggests that an unspecified source at a New Jersey spa resulted in the transmission of HIV-1 to three patients,” the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported.

The BBC reports that the cost of a vampire facial at a licensed medical spa can range from $1,000 to $2,000. Reports say that the vampire face effect can last up to 18 months.

During an inspection of this unauthorized spa in 2018, investigators found several unsafe infection control practices. Refrigerator – Unwrapped syringes were found next to food, scattered on drawers and counters, and in general trash cans.
A report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) noted the nature of the vampire face findings, noting that HIV transmission through contaminated blood from cosmetic injection services had not been documented before, according to the CDC. But the spa owner admitted it was their own negligence when women who received vampire facials tested positive for HIV in 2022. So the owner of the unauthorized spa was sentenced to more than 3 years in prison, the report said.
