Years in the making, the Kicking Horse Canyon construction along the Trans-Canada Highway in BC will get its final touches this spring and summer.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Transport said the road will be closed and there will be a short delay as work on the final stage begins in April.

That construction will begin on Tuesday, April 2, with the highway reduced to one lane in each direction for the duration of the project.

“This will allow crews to safely complete pavements, line painting, wildlife fencing and landscaping,” the ministry said, adding drivers are asked to obey signs and watch for traffic control personnel.

Along with minor delays, the ministry said a full, two-hour closure will take place on the following dates, although dates and times may change.
