Strict notice on farmers’ complaints, Prime Minister’s order to increase wheat procurement target immediately Achi-News

Prime Minister Islamabad (Web Desk) Shehbaz Sharif, taking an important decision to resolve the wheat grievances, increased the wheat procurement target from 1.4 million metric tons to 18 million metric tons and ordered immediate purchase.

Sheikh Waqas Akram from the opposition warned the government and said that farmers will be on the streets soon and the rulers will not be able to face it.

National Food Security Minister Rana Tanveer had admitted that it was a wrong decision by the caretaker government to allow the import of wheat, saying that he would write to the provincial governments to procure more wheat from farmers.

Now, taking strict notice of the farmers’ grievances, the Prime Minister ordered the federal government to immediately purchase wheat from the farmers.

The Prime Minister also instructs PASCO to prioritize transparency and convenience for farmers regarding the purchase of wheat.

Shahbaz Sharif increased the federal government’s wheat procurement target from 1.4 million metric tons to 1.8 million metric tons.

Orders were given by the Prime Minister to Pasco to increase the wheat procurement target and ensure immediate procurement.

Earlier, Pakistan Farmers Union President Khalid Khokhar had written a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, demanding an investigation into the wheat crisis in the country and damage to the national treasury.

According to a private TV report, the President of Pakistan Ittehad wrote in a letter that the country’s treasury has lost a billion dollars due to the unnecessary import of wheat 80 billion and that the government is likely to lose 104 billion rupees.

Khalid Khokhar further wrote in the letter that Pasco and the state food department have more than 4.3 million metric tons of wheat till April 1.

Due to the wrong decision of the Ministry of Commerce, no ban was imposed on the import of wheat and till March wheat ships were anchored in Karachi.

The Prime Minister should take note of the matter and form a high level committee to investigate it and punish those responsible.
