Lucknow, Sep 21 (PTI) The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court convicted ex-mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari and sentenced him to two years in jail for threatening to kill a jail guard.

A separate bench comprising Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh passed the order after accepting the state government’s appeal.

According to the case, in 2003, Lucknow’s then jailer S.K. Awasthi filed a case against Ansari at the Alambagh police station, alleging that she was threatened with death if she ordered a search of those who had come to meet Mukhtar. given to Ansari in jail.

Awasthi also accused Ansari of firing a gun while abusing her. The trial court acquitted Ansari, who had filed an appeal on behalf of the government.
