A woman was taken to hospital in critical condition Thursday night after a fire broke out in an apartment building in downtown Montreal.
A 911 call at 8:30 p.m. reported that a fire had broken out at the corner of Pullum and Hochalga streets in the St. Marie neighborhood.
A 67-year-old woman was found unconscious on the spot and was taken to the hospital.
Montreal Police (SPVM) spokeswoman Sabrina Gauthier confirmed Friday morning that her condition has since improved, and her life is not in danger.
The fire quickly took over, and no apartments or buildings were evacuated.
There were no other casualties.
Gauthier said investigators from the SPVM’s arson unit will go to the scene on Friday to determine the cause of the fire.
The police said it appears to be accidental.
