Idol of Vijaya Durga found in Goa
An idol of Vijaya Durga Devi has been found in a river in Goa’s Calangute district, which is several years old. A resident of Calangute, who had gone to his maternal uncle’s house in nearby Sankole in the area, found the idol while fishing. Speaking to the media, Ayush Naik, who saw the idol for the first time, said, “I saw the idol at the bottom of the river. It was full of jackfruit structures. I immediately informed people about this discovery. Then I took the idol to the temple and spoke to the elders, who said that it was kept in the gausala.
Since the discovery of the idol, a temple of Vijaya Durga to be built in the village is also being discussed. Sankole village which has a history of 500 years is associated with Goddess Vijaya Durga, and this place is called “Shank Wall”. According to history, there was a temple of Vijaya Durga here. It is said to have been destroyed by the Portuguese.
But the villagers always believed that the goddess was present here and some even claimed to have seen the goddess in their dreams. But Goddess Vijaya Durga appeared in the form of an idol, to the great joy of everyone.
