Two BJP councilors disqualified in Amarli, Gujarat. In fact, the two BJP councilors were disqualified under the provision of the Municipal Act. In fact, the two members of the council gave birth to a third child, because of which they lost their mandate.
According to media reports, BJP leaders Kheema Kasotia and Meghana Buka have been disqualified from Damnagar Municipality of Amreli with immediate effect. Disqualification of councilors at the time of Lok Sabha elections will certainly disappoint the BJP, but it will have no impact on the administration of the municipality because the BJP still has sufficient number of councillors.
In fact, the BJP councilors gave birth to their third child just last year. According to the rules, under the Gujarat Municipal Act, people with three children cannot contest the councilor election. This is why when the two councilors had a third child, action was taken against them. However, the disqualified MPs claim that when they became councillors, they only had two children, but now that they have a third child, both councilors have been disqualified.
