Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took a walk down memory lane during an inter-caste marriage ceremony on the occasion of Buddha Purnima. Siddaramaiah said he wants to have an interracial marriage but it can’t happen. He said the girl and her family refused to perform an inter-caste marriage.

“Falled in love with a girl during school”

According to the Chief Minister of Karnataka, when he was studying, he fell in love with a girl. They thought of having an inter-caste marriage, but the girl and her family did not agree. Therefore the marriage did not take place. He said, ‘After that circumstances became such that I had to marry a girl of my own caste. My marriage took place in my community. The people present there applauded the Chief Minister.

Gave support to inter-caste marriage

Siddaramaiah promised that his government would provide all assistance for inter-caste marriages. He gave his full support and cooperation to inter-caste marriages. Karnataka CM said that efforts to eliminate casteism and bring equality in the society have been going on since the time of Gautam Buddha. He also said that there are only two ways to eradicate the social evil of casteism. The first is inter-caste marriage and the second is socio-economic empowerment among all communities.
