A 10-year-old boy is in the hospital after being hit by a car in a strip parking lot in Montreal.
The Montreal Police Department (SPVM) reports that a call to 911 around 10:45 a.m. brought emergency responders to a restaurant in a strip mall on Vieau Boulevard near Metropolitan Boulevard.
The boy was conscious when the medical forces arrived, but he was seriously injured in his lower body. The authorities do not fear for his life.
SPVM spokeswoman Caroline Brafels said the 26-year-old driver tried to park and for an unknown reason hit a boy who was standing in front of the restaurant.
The driver was taken to the hospital and treated for shock.
The accident scene investigators are looking into the reasons and circumstances that led to the collision.
