Mekhliganj: And of the ten border districts, slightly more smuggling was reported from Kuchlibari district of Mekhliganj block. Just as various goods are smuggled by throwing rocks over the barbed wire fence, there are also many complaints about breaking the barbed wire fence from this area. CCTV cameras have already been installed in many places to strengthen border security. BSF is also conducting surveillance with the help of drone night vision cameras at some places. This time, in addition to increasing the number of CC cameras, BSF will conduct surveillance using a new ‘invisible light’.

But what is that invisible light? In the words of security officers, that invisible light is called an ‘infrared intruder alarm’ system. A type of laser light is reflected from this system. Which is not so clear to the naked eye. But if any new object or person or animal enters between that light or if the dispersion of that light is obstructed in any way then an automatic alarm will be sounded at the NIC outpost. It will also be known where the light is blocked. He will understand the location easily. After that the BSF jawans on duty there will be notified through wireless. BSF Jalpaiguri Sector DIG Brigadier Vijay Mehta said, ‘This special system has been launched to monitor sensitive areas. Success is enough.’

The system has been launched in a few kilometers from the border area including BRK Bari, Kalsipara of Kuchlibari Panchayat under Battalion No. 40 of Jalpaiguri sector of BSF. The system is installed at fixed intervals with CC cameras. According to BSF sources, even if the criminals were caught on CCTV cameras or a drone, it would not have been easy for BSF to catch them. If this system is introduced, smugglers will be caught easily.

About 17-18 km area of Kuchlibari is covered with CC cameras and this new system. According to local BSF officials, more CCTV cameras and invisible light devices will be installed in the remaining areas.
