Birendra Rai, elder brother of well-known advocate Giridih with former MP Dr Ravindra Rai, died in a road accident. He left for court from his home in New Burganda on Friday morning. On the way, he was hit by a truck and fell on the road. He suffered a serious head injury. He was immediately taken to hospital. Seeing his critical condition, he was referred to Dhanbad, where he died during the night.

The news of his death spread from the city to his native village of Margora.
