Therefore, Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad is supporting Mamata Banerjee in the Lok Sabha elections. Campaigning by the organization has already begun in earnest. For this reason, Birsa Tirki, the state president of the Parishad, is coming to Duars at the beginning of April. He said, ‘Bikash Parishad is a completely non-political organisation. But what Didi gave to the tribes is simply historical. That’s why we don’t think about anything other than supporting him.’
Top leaders of the organization are reported to have raised questions on behalf of Didi at the Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Bikas Parishad state committee meeting in Kolkata recently. After that the decision was taken by the organization. After 2011, when the Bikash Parishad broke up, Mamata has been with the organization ever since. However, due to the council’s anti-Gorkhaland agitation, cases were filed in various police stations in the name of many tribal communities of Duars Terai. They have not yet been withdrawn by the state. In Birsa’s words, ‘Gorkha community causes are accepted. Didi also ordered withdrawal of tribal cases. It’s not his fault. The work has not yet progressed due to bureaucratic complications. We want the department in question to act on the matter after the election.
According to the organization, after becoming the Prime Minister, Didi gave them a holiday Karam Puja, Hull Day, the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Birsa Munda. The tea workers were given a land lease with money for building houses. Jai Johar gave pension to tribals.
