173 brokers in the hands of the North East Border Railway RPF! 437 people arrested on charges of stealing passenger goods – News18 Bangla Achi-News

New Delhi: Regular raids are conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the North East Frontier Railway to control the menace of brokers. Recently, during a search operation in this zone between 23rd and 25th April, 2024, RPF arrested 2 brokers and recovered railway tickets worth more than 17 thousand rupees from them. A person has also been arrested for stealing passengers’ property.

During the period 2023-24, 173 brokers were arrested by RPF of North East Frontier Railway. Where necessary, raids were conducted with the Government Railway Police (GRP) and police personnel from local police stations. During these raids 1179 tickets worth Rs.22.81 lakh (approx) were recovered. Furthermore, 437 people were also arrested during the period 2023-24 for theft of passenger goods.

Legal proceedings under relevant sections of the Railways Act have been initiated against those caught. In an incident on April 23, 2024, the Dalkhola RPF team raided ‘Mukhless Travels Service’ in North Dinajpur, West Bengal. During the raid, the RPF team recovered 5 e-tickets worth around Rs 13,820 and arrested a broker allegedly involved in the incident.

A case under Section 143 of the Railway Act has been filed in Dalkhola office for further action. In another operation on April 24, 2024, the RPF team at Alipurduar nabbed a broker and recovered 1 railway ticket worth about Rs.3440. A case under Section 143 of the Railway Act has also been registered at RPF post New Cooch Behar regarding this incident.

On April 25, 2024 RPF team from Katihar along with GRP team from Katihar raided Katihar railway station and arrested a person and recovered a stolen mobile phone from him. Later, the arrested person along with the recovered mobile phone was handed over to the GRP in charge of taking legal action.

Apart from keeping a strict vigil on the purchase and sale of unauthorized and illegal railway tickets, RPF North East Frontier Railway is always ready to provide service and assistance to railway users while ensuring the safety of railway passengers. The North East Border Railway Authority has asked the passengers to travel with correct tickets in order to avoid any kind of problem during the train journey.
