South Dinajpur: Fishing goes on freely with bamboo fences in the river bed. Balurghat environmentalists are excited about this. Their complaint is that fish are caught with cross traps in the river by preventing the normal movement of fish without complying with the Fisheries Conservation Act 1950, which is an offence. They drew attention to the administration’s negligence in this matter. Furthermore, the environmental activists have warned of a larger movement in the coming days.

Artificial habitats for fish are created by building bamboo fences with a large number of tree branches. Even somewhere in the middle of the river, fishing takes place across the bamboo fence. In this way, branches of trees are thrown into the river to catch fish. After this, a bamboo fence and kachuripana are provided around. The bush is then surrounded by fine netting with fish food. What the locals call a bush. Various fish are hunted inside it.

There are bushes in the river throughout the year except the rainy season. Large fish are sold from a large bush surrounded by a bamboo fence.
