Ghani, Sherzaman polled in UC-8, UC-12 respectively in District South.

KARACHI: Sindh Labor Minister Saeed Ghani and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Parliamentary Party leader Kurum Sher Zaman voted in UC 8 and UC 12 in District South.

Speaking to the media, Zaman said that the people of Karachi will decide their future for the next four years today.

The PTI leader criticized the MQM-P, saying the party – whose leader held the mayorship for four years – rigged the election.

After casting his vote, Jamaat-e-Islami (GI) Karachi President Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman praised the law enforcement agencies for maintaining peace in Karachi during the election.

Rehman, some people have burnt their camps in some places but voters are still reaching their respective polling stations. “No untoward incident has been reported. [Districts] Central and Eastern,” he added.

He said the people want a GI member to be elected as mayor.

Talking about MQM-P’s decision to contest the election, the GI president said the party had fled.

‘Elections are being corrupted’
There are reports that the election has been delayed in certain areas due to one reason or the other.

Responding to the event, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Asad Umar said that the poll workers did not reach some polling stations.

He said efforts are being made to spoil the election.
