Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) foiled a major conspiracy. They arrested five others, including an arms supplier from Madhya Pradesh, with indigenous weapons. 25 local pistols and 90 cartridges were recovered from the accused. Let us tell you that this action was taken a few days before the Lok Sabha elections to be held in the state. The investigation revealed the identity of the main accused, identified as Shivam alias Shiva Damur, 26, a resident of Madhya Pradesh. The accused first purchased the weapons and then sold them in Gujarat on commission.
ATS received secret information that Shiv Damur would reach Narul Bridge in Ahmedabad on April 25 to hand over arms to Manoj Chauhan, a resident of Chotila town in Surandrangarh district. Based on this information, the ATS team launched an operation and arrested both of them. Five guns and 20 cartridges were found from Shiv Damour.
During the interrogation Damour admitted that he had been selling weapons in Gujarat for the past three months. According to the ATS, he used to visit different areas of Gujarat every four to five days and meet people interested in purchasing illegal arms. After receiving information from the accused, the ATS team conducted raids in Amarli, Rajkot and Surendranagar and arrested four persons. 20 guns and 70 cartridges were found from them.
