Punjab: Boarding a train without a ticket is a punishable offense anywhere in the country. Getting caught can lead to fines and jail time. But there is one place in the country where anyone can ride a train without a ticket. You don’t have to pay any money to ride the train for as long as you want. This train travels via Bhakra and Nangal.

A train runs twice a day on the Bhakra Railway, carrying over 1oo passengers a day. There are a total of 5 stations on the route. The train departs from Nangal once in the morning at 7:50 AM and once in the afternoon at 3:50 PM. Local villagers and school students travel. This train has been in service for 76 years.

This train started traveling with a steam engine in 1948. In 1953, steam engines were replaced by diesel engines. Total distance of 5 stations is 13 km. Travelers travel to enjoy the beautiful view of the Shivalik Hills. This Bhakra Railway completed 75 years last year.
