The Minister for Food Gilgit Baltistan Ghulam Muhammad has said that the government is taking policy-based steps to ensure quality food supply and that all resources are being used in this regard.
Addressing the consultation session in Gilgit to devise a comprehensive strategy for better nutrition by the Planning and Development Department, he said that strict disciplinary action is being taken on the distribution and sale of substandard food items in all districts of Gilgit Baltistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Planning and Development Minister Raja Nasir Ali Khan said that concrete steps will be taken to ensure that food items are available to consumers and establish a food testing laboratory to ensure supply of quality food.
Special Assistant on Information Iman Shah said that the media and other stakeholders need to adopt a coherent strategy to spread awareness for promoting better nutrition.
