The death anniversary of Shere Bangla AK Fazlul Haque was observed in Bangladesh Achi-News

Puber’s Pen, WebDesk: Saturday, April 27, marks the 62nd death anniversary of Bengal Chief Minister AK (Abul Kashem) Fazlul Haque, the Chief Minister of undivided Bengal and a true friend of the farmers and hardworking people of Bengal. The Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, paid tribute to him on this occasion.

On Saturday morning at 8 am, floral tributes were paid at the Fazlul Haq Mausoleum in the historic Shaheed Suharwardi Udayan. The Secretary General of the Awami League and the Minister of Transport and Bridges Obaidol Quader led by the main leaders of the party paid for the first time on behalf of the Prime Minister. Later key leaders paid tribute on behalf of Awami League. There they stood in silence for a minute. Paying deep respect to the memory of this great leader, the Prime Minister said, AK Fazlul Haque’s endless compassion, love and efforts for the poor and needy people of Bengal will always inspire the new generation. AK Fazlul Haque worked all his life to ensure the economic emancipation of the farming community in this country. Sheikh Hasina said that AK Fazlul Haque was always vocal in realizing the rights of farmers. During his tenure as the Chief Minister of Bengal, he enacted various laws including the Agricultural Credit Act and the Tenancy (Amendment) Act to protect the interests of farmers and poor subjects. He abolished the abvab and salami that the landlords used to charge on the lungs. People gave him the title of ‘Shere Bangla’ or ‘Tiger of Bengal’ because of his courageous leadership, generous and philanthropic nature.

He also said that the greatest Bengali of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, had ideological unity and political affinity with Bengali Minister Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque. Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman struggled throughout his life to build an exploitative and progressive, democratic and non-communal Bangladesh. By establishing an independent sovereign Bangladesh, he gave the Bengali nation a chance to walk high in the world. Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of the 62nd death anniversary of Shere Bangla AK Fazlul Haque wished for the forgiveness of his departed soul and overall success of all the programs held on the occasion.
