1. Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan
Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was elected unopposed as the country’s first Vice President. In fact, in 1952 nominations were called for the Vice-Presidential election. Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan and Sheikh Khader Hussain filed nominations. But later Sheikh Qadir’s nomination was rejected by the Election Officer. Subsequently, Radhakrishnan, who was the only candidate, was elected unopposed as the vice president. Dr. Radhakrishnan took over as Vice President on 13 May 1952. In 1957, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was re-elected unopposed as Vice President.
2. Zakir Hussain
In 1962, voting was held for the first time in the Vice-Presidential election. Prior to this, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, who had served two consecutive terms as Vice President, was elected unopposed. In this election NC Samanthasinhar entered the field as a candidate in the presence of Zakir Hussain. A total of 596 members voted in the election held on May 7, 1962. 582 i.e. 97.65% votes were recorded in favor of Zakir Hussain. NC Samanthasinghar who came second got only 14 votes. 14 votes were cancelled.
3. VV Kri
On 6 May 1967, an election was held for the post of third vice-president. VV Giri and Mohammad Habib were in the field at that time. A total of 679 votes were cast. 483 members voted for VV Giri. Mohammad Habib got 193 votes. VVGiri became the third Vice President of the country by getting 71.45% votes.
4. Gopal Swaroop Pathak
VV Giri resigned as Vice President in 1969. After this, the election for the fourth Vice President of the country was held on 30 August 1969. There were six candidates in the field then. One of them is Gopal Swaroop Pathak. Pathak won by 400 votes. Gopal Swarup Pathak completes his tenure. Then Gopal was the first Vice President who could not become the President. Before this, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Zakir Hussain and VV Giri became the President after the Vice President.
