USAID will provide aid to dairy producers – AgroNews Achi-News

Due to the war, one of the challenges for farmers is still the reduction of pastures and agricultural land due to contamination by mines and shells. At the same time, international partners are taking the necessary response measures to support Ukrainian farmers. This was reported by the Committee on Agricultural and Land Policy, writes agronews.ua.

Therefore, with the co-financing of the USAID Program for Agricultural and Rural Development (AGRO), a project to support milk production with added value from family farms will be implemented.

As part of the project, the contractor will receive support to improve and expand the activities of family dairy farms in Poltava, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions by providing them with veterinary services, legal advice on providing pastures and grasslands for livestock, and purchasing equipment. for harvesting fodder.

Implementation of the project will contribute to:

  • increasing the profitability of milk production on family farms of Poltava, Sumy and Chernihiv regions;
  • improving cooperation between micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the dairy sector on issues related to joint procurement of feed, production of products and expansion of sales channels;
  • implementing best practices for harvesting fodder, providing veterinary services and legal assistance in the process of obtaining land for hay and livestock grazing.

The following activities will be carried out within the project:

  • system consultancy and specialist support for family dairy farms (in the form of information, laboratory, veterinary, zootechnical, etc. services);
  • purchase of equipment for the provision of consulting services and veterinary support, procurement of feed for the target group, etc.; it is expected that the equipment will be used to establish cooperation and collaboration between family farms in harvesting fodder;
  • legal consultation support to obtain land for hay and livestock grazing.

To participate in the project, it is necessary: ​​until April 4, 2024 – register to participate in the online seminar by filling in the questionnaire in the link;
