Two sisters died by drowning in Sukhandia (Mandeya) river near Arjundih village in Chhatarpur police station area of ​​Palamu district. Both of them had gone to that area to pick Mahua. They both drowned while bathing in the river. The girls have been identified as 10-year-old Aapda Khatoon and 8-year-old Azra Khatoon, daughter of Rashid Ansari, who lives in Arjundih. The bodies of both have been removed from the river and sent for a post-mortem. It is said that around noon the two sisters went to pick Mahua near the village.

Along with Aapda and Azra, three girls from the village also went to Mahua.
