Sevoke to Rangpo Railway Line: It is only a matter of time to reach Sikkim by train, T-04 Tunnel is a big success! Start counting the days Achi-News

Kolkata: A breakthrough was achieved at Tunnel No. T-04/P2 (Length 3948 m) of Sevak-Rongpo Railway Project (SRRP) located in Darjeeling district of West Bengal as an important milestone for Indian Railways. The success of this tunnel has led to the successful completion of all the tunneling activities of this project. T-04 main tunnel is 3948 meters long along with 599 meters long evacuation tunnel located near Hanuman Jhora in Darjeeling district of West Bengal.

The main tunnel extends through the weak and subdued geological and seismic conditions of the Young Himalayas. Like all other tunnels in SRRP, the latest and most modern and sophisticated tunneling technology ie the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) has been used to prevent soil load weakening. The new Sevak-Rongpo rail link project is about 45 km. Long, which will connect Sewak (West Bengal) and Rangpo (Sikkim) and will include 14 tunnels, 13 major bridges, 09 minor bridges and 5 stations.

The longest tunnel (T-10) is 5.3 km. And the longest bridge (Pont-17) is 425 meters long. The entire project is about 38.65 km. The installation is traversed through tunnels. 93% of the tunnel construction has already been completed. 10 , T-11 and T-12 move forward. A total of 13.13 km of lining has been completed so far.

Sudden nosebleed? Do not neglect

All departments work 24 hours a day and night. It is one of the most prestigious national projects under construction in India and after its completion the project will be connected through Sikkim Railway for the first time. This rail network once completed will provide alternative and stable connectivity to Sikkim. All activities related to the construction of tunnels, bridges and station yards are currently being carried out under war conditions to complete the project early.
