Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah spoke to Neha Hirmath’s father on phone on Tuesday and expressed deep regret over the murder and assured that the government would support him in every way to get justice. Neha’s father, Niranjan Hiramat, is a Congress councilor of the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation. He said on Sunday that he was not satisfied with the state government’s investigation and wanted to probe the CBI into the matter. The Minister of State Law and Parliamentary Affairs, H.K. Patil, came to Niranjan’s house on Tuesday, during which Siddaramaiah talked to him on the phone and said that it was a serious crime. The accused will definitely be punished. Neha Hiramat, a 23-year-old student, was stabbed to death by Fayaz Khundunaik on April 11 in the city’s BVB College compound after she rejected his love proposal.

BJP Karnataka president BY Vijayendra on Tuesday again raised the demand for a CBI probe into the Neha murder case. He said he met the victim’s family. None of the family members are satisfied with the state government’s behavior in this matter.
Vijendra said, though the government has handed over this case to the CID, only one arrest has been made so far. It’s a case of love jihad, definitely more people are involved in the conspiracy, but efforts are being made to silence it by calling it a common crime.
