Coimbatore: A terrible incident took place in Tamil Nadu before the Lok Sabha Election. Erode MP and MDMK leader Ganeshamurthy passed away. Recently he tried to commit suicide after not getting ticket for Lok Sabha Election, he was admitted first to Erode Hospital and then to Coimbatore Hospital. But he breathed his last on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment.

Ganeshamurthy fought with the DMK symbol

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Ganesh Murthy won the Erode constituency from MDMK in the DMK alliance. Ganeshamurthy fought and won on the DMK symbol. However, in the current election, the party announced the party founder’s son, Durai Vaikoran, as its candidate. This caused great offense to Ganeshamurthy.

Suicide four days ago

He fell ill on March 24 and was admitted to hospital. Party sources later revealed that the MP had tried to kill himself by swallowing poisoned pills. Police said he was undergoing treatment for the past four days and breathed his last this morning as his condition worsened. A case of suicide has been registered and an investigation has been started, he said. The body was handed over to the family members after the post-mortem examination.
