There is a different atmosphere across the country regarding the Lok Sabha elections. The round of claims and counterclaims continues. Meanwhile, BJP president JP Nadda vehemently attacked the Congress. He alleged that the Congress was trying to hijack the rights of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other backward classes in favor of Muslims. Not only that, Nada claimed that it was a hidden agenda of the opposition party.
JP Nadda released a video message saying that the Congress and Indian Union want to hijack the rights of our SC, ST and OBC people and give them to Muslims. This is their hidden agenda. Appeasement is also clearly evident in the Congress manifesto.
The BJP president cited the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s statement in 2006 in which he said that minorities, especially Muslims, have the first right to the country’s resources. In this regard, the Congress claimed that in light of the lack of public support, the ruling party resorted to spreading lies and communal division to create polarization during the elections.
An attempt to give reservations to Muslims
At the same time, Nadda alleged that the Congress had tried to give reservation to Muslims in several states including Karnataka, where the BJP government had scrapped the reservation. However, the Siddaramaiah government backed out of it. He said that the Congress had also tried to give reservation to Muslims in Andhra Pradesh, but it could not happen due to the Supreme Court order.
The BJP leader said the Congress, in its 2009 election manifesto, had promised reservation for Muslims in educational institutions and jobs through sub-quotas in the other backward class category. He claimed that the Congress’ anti-majority stance in the 2024 election manifesto shows its hatred for SCs, STs and OBCs as they are the majority in the society.
Citing BR Ambedkar’s criticism of Jawaharlal Nehru for not talking about the welfare of Dalits in his speeches, he said the party had a long-standing habit of hijacking the rights of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs. He claimed that Nehru always supported Muslims.
The benefits did not come at the expense of other communities
The BJP leader said, ‘I don’t want Muslims to be neglected. But I definitely want the Muslims not to benefit at the expense of other communities. Only those who need more security should receive the benefit. By setting up the National Commission for Religious and Linguistic Minorities, the Congress hatched a conspiracy that Muslims too have status. Therefore, they should also be considered SC and given reservations.
He accused the opposition party that Dalits also exist among Muslims so that the minority community would get the benefit of the scheduled caste reservation.
