Islamabad Food Department (Newsdesk) sources say that every citizen in Pakistan consumes 115 kg of flour annually.
The Food Department says that the annual consumption of wheat in the country is 2 crore 80 lakh tonnes, this year the wheat production target in the four states has been set at 3 crore 21 lakh tonnes.
According to the sources, production of 2 crore 96 lakh tonnes of wheat is expected this year.
He says that Punjab needs 1 crore 47 lakh tonnes of wheat for 12 crore 78 lakh people while they need 8 lakh 72 thousand tonnes of wheat for seeds.

According to the food department, Punjab’s wheat requirement is 1 crore 55 lakh 55 thousand tonnes while Punjab’s production target is 2 crore 41 lakh.
Food department sources say the production target for Sindh has been set at 4.4 lakh tonnes, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1.4 lakh and Balochistan 1.3 lakh tonnes.
He says that this year Punjab will produce 8.6 million tonnes of wheat more than its requirement, while Pakistan will produce 1.8 million tonnes more than the total consumption.
