New Delhi: North East Frontier Railway has achieved the highest sales of waste products in the previous financial year. In line with the ‘Zero Scrap Mission’ of Indian Railways, the North East Border Railway has adopted a waste disposal system in all its divisions. To make this mission successful, North East Frontier Railway has asked all departments, workshops and sheds to be waste free.
In the last financial year 2023-24, the North East Frontier Railway earned Rs 202.84 crore from the sale of waste materials. North East Frontier Railway achieved a record by selling this waste material. This is an increase of 6.8 percent compared to the sale of waste Rs 189.92 crore in the financial year 2022-23.
During this journey under ‘Zero Scrap Mission’, North East Frontier Railway has sold 23553 MT of scrap railway/P-road materials and 19192 MT of miscellaneous waste materials during the last financial year. In addition, North East Frontier Railway sold 26 diesel locomotives, 247 coaches and 284 wagons during this period. The ‘Zero Scrap Mission’ campaign has not only generated revenue for the Indian Railways, but also created storage space for materials and other waste materials.
