Since the start of the war, tinned food prices have been rising steadily. Sardines and herring from the current produce, which used to be bought for the table, are now a festive dish. Even zucchini caviar is soon moving from the everyday menu to Christmas. This is reported by Heddiw, writes agronews.ua.

Ukrainians have always been willing to include canned fish and vegetables in their menu. And with the outbreak of war, tinned goods became an obligatory feature in every home. Ukrainians are advised to have at least some supply of canned goods in case of force majeure.

However, the prices for such food “bite” more and more every month. Zucchini caviar in a half liter container is already worth as much as a small jar of pre-war red caviar. And the prices of sardines and horse mackerel have also now become unaffordable for many.

In March, a 150-gram jar of Aquamarine brand overheads increased by 42 kopecks compared to February. In February, it could be bought for an average of 72.73 hryvnias, and now you will have to pay 73.15 hryvnias. It appears that the growth is small, but it is relentless, and because of that, more and more signs are given.

But sardines in March became even slightly cheaper. So, for a jar weighing 230 grams in February, you had to pay UAH 63.83, and in March, the same thing costs UAH 62.46.

But the cost of zucchini caviar increases the most. A product that used to be bought in stores “just in case” and “together” with other goods is gradually turning into a real delicacy. A family with a low income can already afford such a purchase not every day. Compared to February, the price of a 440-gram jar of caviar jumped by 5.6 hryvnias: from 66.39 hryvnias to 71.99 hryvnias. This is a very significant increase.
