The rise in temperature increases health problems along with other problems. According to a new study, the risk of stroke increases due to dramatic changes in temperature. Subzero temperatures were responsible for 5,21,031 stroke deaths in 2019. Because of this, the disability also increased. This study is based on data from 1990 to 2019. In this framework, data related to health and temperature in more than 200 countries were analyzed. The researchers of the study published in the journal Neurology clarified that this study highlights the link between climate change and stroke, but more research is still needed to fully prove that climate change causes stroke.
91 percent of deaths due to temperature fluctuations
Of the more than 5 lakh deaths due to stroke, about 91% were due to extreme fluctuations in ideal temperatures. Higher than ideal temperatures were responsible for 474,002 of these stroke deaths. Along with this, reasons such as unseasonal heat, cold and rain were also responsible for this. Apart from this, the effect of the temperature increase is also increasing rapidly.
The risk of stroke increases in the elderly
Rising temperatures have increased the risk of stroke among the elderly, especially in a region where health inequalities exist. The rise in temperatures in Central Asia has led to an alarming increase in stroke cases.
