Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren approached the Supreme Court. In the petition he submitted, he said that the High Court of Justice does not rule on his petition challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (MD) in the money laundering case.

The decision was reserved on February 28

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Soran, told the bench of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta that the High Court reserved its decision on his petition on February 28, but no decision has yet been given.

A week’s time is given to ED

Let us tell you that Mant Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on January 31st. He is accused of money laundering in a land fraud case. The former CM is currently in judicial custody in Birsa Munda Jail in Ranchi. In this case, the High Court gave one more week to the ED to respond to Soren’s bail application.

The investigation is related to 8.86 dunams of land in Ranchi

The investigation against Soren refers to an area of 8.86 dunams in Ranchi. ED claims he was caught illegally. The agency filed a charge sheet in the PMLA Special Court here on March 30 against Soran, Prasad, Soran’s alleged “front” Raj Kumar Pahan and Hilarias Kachhap and former prime minister Binod Singh’s alleged aide. Soren filed a bail application before a special court in Ranchi, alleging that his arrest was politically motivated and part of a planned conspiracy to force him to join the BJP.

A.D. also attached the land located in Ranchi and asked the court to seize the plot. The money laundering probe is linked to a large number of FIRs filed by the Jharkhand Police against several people, including state government officials, in land scam cases. The main accused in the case is Prasad, who was the custodian of government records. The ED said in a statement that he is accused of abusing his official position by assisting several persons, including Soren, in activities related to illegal possession, purchase and custody of proceeds of crime in the form of landed property. ED alleged that a land mafia racket is active in Jharkhand, which indulges in forging land records in Ranchi.
