Sanjeev Bhatt is already in jail in connection with the custodial death. He was found guilty of framing a lawyer from Rajasthan in a false case. Bhatt was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Jamnagar custodial death case. Former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt and another police officer Parveen Singh Jhala were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by the Jamnagar district court in the 1990 custodial death case. The court convicted Parveen Singh Jhala and Bhatt under Section 302 of the IPC. A case was registered against 8 police officers in this case.
