A woman in her 60s died after a fire Sunday morning in Slavry-de-Valleyfield, in the Monterrey region of Quebec.
Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) were called around 9 a.m. to a house on rue Bélanger engulfed in flames.
“The victim suffered significant injuries during the incident. She was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead,” said SQ spokeswoman Helen St. Pierre.
An investigation is being carried out by the SQ’s Major Crime Squad. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
A fire technician was also called to the scene of the tragedy on Sunday afternoon.
