ECP has announced that it will hold the LB elections in Karachi, Hyderabad on January 15
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced that local body elections will be held in Karachi and Hyderabad on Tuesday, January 15, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.
The ECP has directed the concerned institutions to complete security arrangements in this regard.
Earlier, the Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered the holding of LB elections in Karachi and Hyderabad on Friday.
The SHC had announced the verdict accepting the applications of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI).
The MQM has asked the court to postpone the LB elections until amendments are made to the Sindh Local Government Act.
The court ruled that the Government of Sindh and I.G. The police have instructed them to make arrangements for security during the election.
The court ordered the state government to release the election schedule immediately.
In August, PTI and JI filed a petition in the SHC after the ECP postponed the second round of LB polls scheduled to be held in Karachi and Hyderabad on August 28.
