Neutrality in the Russia-Ukraine war came in handy!
I will now talk about India’s global status. Because your path defines what your role is at the global level. You are either a problem maker or a consensus maker. There seems to be no doubt about where India is. India is a member country of Quad and SCO. India was invited to G7. India is also a member of BRICS. India competes with others, while representing the South. Other nations must do a trick to represent this. How did India do this? Because we are not trying to play an external role, we are trying to play the right role. India has not taken sides in the Russia-Ukraine war. Many are confused here, but in India the situation is clear. It is not in the nation’s interest to take sides and make the problem worse. India has maintained good relations with Russia and the West, and intends to continue to do so. When two best friends fight, do you try to solve the problem? Increase more? I know what good friends do. India is doing the same. India always tries to find solutions to problems, not create problems. While Sri Lanka was sinking economically, India provided $4 billion in financial aid. Despite Colombo’s relationship with China, no hostilities were achieved.

Many say that India has lost control over South Asia. But India is not going to rule South Asia. India develops relations based on mutual respect and equality. As a result, Nepal and Bhutan use India’s online payment system without government intervention.

India follows Buddhist diplomacy
Students from neighboring countries come to India for tuition, scholarship, financial assistance. Our government follows Buddhist diplomacy. This proves that India is the cradle of Buddhism. All these decisions have made India popular. The world stands with us against China’s expansionist policy. While the southern world looks to us for leadership, the northern world looks forward to an alliance with us. This is the hallmark of good diplomacy. India has made clear the confidence the world has placed in India during Covid-19.

When the whole world forgot morality and globalization, India sent 24 crore vaccines to 100 countries. The impact can be seen in Papua New Guinea. When the Prime Minister of India went there, the Prime Minister there paid respect by touching the feet of our Prime Minister. This is not a personal tribute to a leader, but a tribute to an entire country.

What happened after the removal of Article 370?
Talking about India’s territoriality, this government has removed Article 370. Now the economy of Kashmir is booming and last year 1.8 crore tourists visited the valley state. This is the highest in Indian history. First foreign direct investment in Kashmir, that too by a UAE company. As Kashmir is not just the economy, we must also talk about the security there. Terrorism in Kashmir has almost stopped in the last 2 years. Security is good, economy is good, Kashmir is good, we have corrected the historical mistake imposed on India.

The opposition has talked about religious intolerance and I will talk about that too. It is very easy to pretend that the whole of India is intolerant by citing one or two incidents. But, some events do not reflect India and its leadership and government, but its policies. Compared to the previous government, Modi’s first term government had more Muslim students and 2 million more Muslim students received scholarships. If the intention is to oppress Muslims, why are they getting more scholarships?

Take a look at the Government’s Hajj Policy. PM Modi directly negotiated with Saudi to increase India’s Haj quota. In 2014, Haj quota was 1 lakh for 36 thousand people, in 2019 it is more than 2 lakh. If there was an intention to trample on Muslims, why should the Haj quota be increased?

This government banned triple talaq. Is this an improvement? Do you want to stop?

According to a 2021 survey, 89% of Muslims and Christians in India said they had open opportunities to practice their religion. But there is no point in believing theories that are not true. Similarly, all government schemes, social schemes like cooking gas connection, bank account, insurance are available to all citizens of all religions. Does this mean that India is not good? Not so. How accurate is it to say that the whole country is like that even if there is one example that is overlooked? When I was invited to come here, I wondered why Oxford was interested in Modi’s India route. Because India, believing the future of the West, the world’s largest democracy, is building its own path. No one can doubt India’s confidence. But some are trying to create an anti-India wave with their politically motivated behaviour. GDP does not touch 5%. There is corruption in the Rafale deal. The government uses Pegasis to spy on the opposition. These are all good to read. One can pretend that all is not well in India. But when the Supreme Court investigation has clarified that there is no mistake, when India’s GDP is more than 7%, who will question this fake news? The Western world is questioning India’s secularism when Karnataka, which is 85% Hindu, voted against the BJP. When you question the trajectory of a country, you must distinguish between an agenda-driven narrative and reality.

Finally, every nation in the world has a wrong path. But there is no right path for everyone. Britain has its own right of way. India has its own right path. Everyone has their rightful way as long as democracy and the constitution are respected. It is wrong to judge another country based on one country’s standards. This is India’s best policy and since 2014, 140 million people have been lifted out of the poverty line. We have held a number of free and fair elections. We have done all this amidst protests and discussions. The people of India have answered this in 2019. People should believe that you are on the right path, people should think that your path is right, and you should have the approval of the people.
