Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir have been involved in on-field spats on several occasions over the years.

Delhi Police, who are known for their creative social media exchanges, have once again come up with an innovative post, referring to the trending topic of the Indian Premier League (IPL). It featured a photo of Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir ending their storied rivalry with a warm hug during a match between Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday, March 29.

Whenever these two teams faced each other in the tournament, the fans have always predicted an on-field rift between Kohli and Gambhir. The long-running saga seems to have come to an end as the two Indian stalwarts were seen shaking hands during a strategic moment at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The moment was captured on the broadcaster’s camera and it took no time to go viral.

After the match ended, the Delhi police released the picture on X (formerly Twitter). Text on the photograph reads, “Jhagda Hua? Dial 112 Gold Jhagre Ko Shaant Karao. Koi Bhi Jhagda ‘Virat’ Ya ‘Gambhir’ Nahi. (Heat up an argument? Dial 112 and let it calm down. It’s not always a big and serious issue).”

The post was actually intended to inform the public about the department’s Emergency Response Support System (ERSS). During any emergency, people can dial a toll-free number – 112 – to seek help from the Delhi Police.

After the post surfaced on the internet, many users praised the Delhi Police for sharing a positive message in such a creative way. One of them was quick to acknowledge, “Delhi police Twitter admin knows how to use current events even better than professional members. Also sends a positive message to everyone.”

Another said sarcastically, “Delhi police never missed an opportunity.”

Some funny friends in the police show their talent. It’s great to deliver such content and make awareness easy,” said an individual.

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were first involved in an on-field altercation during IPL 2013. During a match between RCB and KKR, Kohli was seen exchanging some heated words with Gambhir, who was the then captain of the Kolkata franchise.

A similar incident happened in the 2016 season when Gambhir angrily threw the ball at the non-striker’s end where Kohli was standing. In the last IPL when Gambhir was mentoring Lucknow SuperGiants, Kohli got into a war of words with Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq. Gambhir came to support his player and was seen charging towards Kohli.
