There is no environmental clearance on these ghats, illegal mining is still happening

There are many sick ghats in Arang region that do not have environmental clearance, but influential people are doing illegal mining in these ghats, cheating the government. Every day 100 to 200 kiva of sand go out in Arang.

In Arang area, 100 to 200 traffic policemen leave each sand ghat every day with sand. With the tacit approval of officers, sand thieves reap money, while the same government is defrauded to the tune of millions of rupees every month.

There is permission in these sand pits, but the mining happens overnight outside the laws.

Seven persons from the Minerals Department have been granted permission (lease) to mine sand in an area of ​​4.95 dunams to 10 dunams from 2024 to 2029 for the purpose of excavating sand from Mahanadi river near Erang assembly in Raipur.

Will take action by establishing a joint team – SDM

Arang SDM Pushpendra Sharma said that from time to time action is taken by forming teams against illegal sand ghats. Even in the future, the two districts will establish a joint team and operate. Recently Naib Tehsildar operated in two places and cut the ramp built inside the river. The vehicles were confiscated.
