GUWAHATI: The Delhi High Court today refused to provide immediate relief to arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate to respond to his plea seeking immediate release by April 2.

The court will discuss the matter again on April 4.

The order came after Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for ED, alleged that Kejriwal’s lawyer did not give the investigating agency a copy of the petition till the last minute and it needed time to file a reply and point out certain facts.

"Any order received in the request for temporary release of the petitioner [Kejriwal]Until the disposal of his main petition without calling the ED answer, at this stage, he would prefer to decide the main petition itself," Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma said.

Raju claimed that although the petition was forwarded on Saturday (March 23), a copy was served to them only yesterday, while Kejriwal’s lawyer, Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, claimed that the challenge is in the arrest warrant itself and claimed that the matter did not need any answers, Noting that it was not possible to submit a copy of the petition earlier since the tabu closed on Saturday.
