Days after the death of an Indian fisherman in a Karachi jail in Pakistan, his body is being brought to Maharashtra. The body will be brought to his hometown of Pelgar in the coming days. The deceased has been identified as Vinod Laxman Kol, 45, a resident of Guratpada village. Two years ago, in October 2022, he was caught by Pakistani agencies while entering the maritime part of the neighboring country. Since then he has been admitted to Karachi Jail.

This year he died during treatment after becoming paralyzed in prison. Another imprisoned Indian somehow informed the deceased’s family of his death. After that, the family contacted the local MLA and the matter was transferred to the center. A family member of the deceased said that the family is waiting for the body.

Jatin Desai, a representative of a social organization working for Indian prisoners in Pakistani prisons, said: “Following all the protocols, Kol’s body can reach Dahanu within a day or two.” The body will be brought from Pakistan to Dhano via Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Pune and Mumbai. He said that about 35 Indian fishermen are in Pakistani jails.
