London (International Desk) A couple who reached an agreement have divorced after a lawyer clicked the “wrong button” in London.
According to a report yesterday, a couple had been wrongly divorced due to a mistake made by a lawyer at a London law firm.
The lawyers at Verdiges Law Firm clicked the ‘wrong button’ on an online portal and filed a final divorce decree for Mr and Mrs. Williams.

According to The Guardian, the lawyers intended to file for another client’s divorce, however, they accidentally lost the electronic case file in ‘Williams v Williams’ and the divorce was granted within 21 minutes of the petition.
Mr and Mrs Williams separated in 2023 after 21 years of marriage, but when their accidental divorce happened, they were short on money and in the process of thinking.
The law firm realized the mistake two days later and applied to set aside the final divorce decree. But the judge rejected the request, saying there was a “strong public policy interest” in “holding the investigation.”
Ayesha Verdig, who is known as the “Goddess of Divorce”, who heads the Verdig law firm, responded to the ruling saying that the judge had made a ‘bad decision’.
He added that the judge had ‘effectively decided, but the computer says no, you’re divorced’.
Ayesha Wardig said the state should not divorce people based on fault. There must be intention on the part of the person divorcing, as the principle of intention is the basis of the fairness of our legal system. When a mistake comes to the attention of the court, and everyone accepts that a mistake has been made, it is clear that it must be reversed’.
