SRINAGAR: It is truly remarkable that Mehnoor Binti Obaid, a two-year-old girl from J&K has set a National Record for being the “youngest river crosser” in India.

Rafting Mehnoor on August 18, 2023, aged 2 years and 12 days. The record was confirmed by India Book of Records who are the curators and guardians of all Indian Records.

White water rafting is an adventure sport that involves navigating foamy and turbulent waters created by the flow of the river over rocks with the aid of a raft. It is an exhilarating water sport, and to try it at such a tender age is truly a unique sport. This feat of Mehnoor showed her courage to overcome fear and try it in her first time. The difficulty level of white water rafting varies based on the water current, and Mehnoor tried it in a Grade 3-4 river, which indicates a moderate to difficult level.

To set this record Mehnoor needed an hour of continuous rafting, spanning a distance of 13 kilometres. No doubt her achievement is a testament to her adventurous spirit and the encouragement she received from her parents. This feat is particularly noteworthy, as no child so young has attempted white water rafting before.

Mehnoor’s achievement can be an example of inspiration for others, underlining the potential for adventure at any age with proper supervision and guidance. With her amazing feat at such a young age, Mehnoor clearly has a spirit of determination and courage that bodes well for her future endeavours. Her success in river rafting suggests that she has the ability to achieve even greater milestones in the coming years.
