Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered to take disciplinary action against the officials involved in power theft and facilitating it, saying that those who have caused loss of billions of dollars to the country will be punished.
A review meeting on the prevention of electricity theft was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, where the participants were given a detailed briefing on the anti-electricity theft campaign.
In the briefing paper, it was mentioned that the duration of load shedding is less in areas where there is a low rate of electricity theft.
The Prime Minister said that it is our responsibility to create a stable system through measures such as the campaign to prevent power theft, the economic situation cannot afford a problem such as power theft.
Shahbaz Sharif said that a strategy should be made to reduce line losses and upgrade transmission lines, generation companies are a burden on the public exchequer, work should be started immediately to privatize generation companies.
The Chief Minister said that a plan should be made for the solarization of tube wells in Balochistan and a report should be submitted.
At the meeting, it was decided to start work under the Public Sector Development Program on the project of installing smart meters on transformers, it was decided to install feeder monitors on the feeders with high losses.
