Thrombosis is a serious disease that has potentially dangerous consequences. Recent studies have shown that it can be prevented not only with the help of medical drugs, but also with certain foods. This is reported by TSN, writes agronews.ua.

We are talking about kiwi, loved by many Ukrainians. Experts say that if you eat at least 2-3 kiwis a day, you can significantly reduce the risk of blood clots and also reduce the amount of fat in the blood. The Norwegian team of scientists who conducted the study believe that this fruit can even become an effective alternative to aspirin.

The study was conducted at the University of Oslo. According to his results, consumption of 2-3 kiwi per day for 28 days significantly reduced the accumulation of platelets (blood clots) in volunteers and also reduced triglyceride levels by 15% compared to the control group.

Scientists were able to discover that kiwi thins the blood, which significantly reduces the risk of blood clots and blood fat, which is the most common cause of blood vessel blockage. At the same time, it does not affect the “good” cholesterol level. You can get the same effect if you take aspirin in the dose recommended by doctors to strengthen heart health.

The leading researcher, Professor of the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences at the University of Oslo, Asim Dutaroi noted that kiwi is fully compatible with drugs that suppress blood platelets (in particular, aspirin) to reduce the frequency of myocardial infarction, stroke or death from cardiovascular diseases. .

We will remind you that aspirin, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), is often prescribed to protect against cardiovascular diseases. About 14 million people in the US take these drugs every day. But, like all other drugs of this class, aspirin causes inflammation and ulceration of the digestive system. Every year, about 100 thousand people are hospitalized and 10-20 thousand of them die from complications resulting from taking NSAIDs.

Of course, Professor Dutroy’s team does not recommend replacing aspirin with kiwi completely, but it is important to add this fruit to the daily diet, especially for those who are trying to improve heart health with a special diet.
