Vinyl Press UK Ltd has taken a 2,500 sq ft lease in Monks Cross for the new venture, which produces 7, 10 and 12 inch records in a range of colors and sleeve options.

Vinyl Press was founded by music entrepreneurs Lucy Johnson (Director), Neville Proctor (Financial Director) and Susie Proctor (Director).

The trio realized an opportunity to offer small to medium-sized labels with much-needed vinyl record production facilities in the North of England.

The opening of the facility coincides with demand for vinyl records rising last year for the 16th consecutive year, with 6.5 million sold, and total sales topping £170 million. Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s version) was the best-selling LP, followed by The Rolling Stones’ Hackney Diamonds.

Vinyl Press launched the business with a small team but expects to hire a few more staff over the next 12 months as the company’s order book and customer base grows. The customer list already extends to Europe, and they quickly became part of a global network of manufacturers and industry experts.

Lucy Johnson said: “I’ve been involved in the music industry for over two decades, so we’re absolutely delighted to see vinyl records enjoying a renaissance in the mainstream and with younger generations across the UK.

“Since opening the doors to our new pressing facility, we’ve produced a number of records in various sizes and colors for a wide variety of genres, from drum and bass and jazz to punk and folk.

“As well as working with established record companies, we are keen to develop relationships with smaller independent record companies to find ways to make vinyl production more accessible again at a grassroots level.”

Neville Proctor said: “It’s an exciting time to be in production in the music industry. Our goal is to build relationships with our customers and consistently produce high-quality records, while innovating and exploring the creative possibilities so integral to physical music releases.”

The lease was handled by Andrew Jackson’s attorneys.

Chris Waterhouse, Real Estate and Property Partner said: “Having acted for the Proctor family for over 20 years, it has been a great pleasure to assist Neville, Lucy and Susie with Vinyl Press and ensure that their interests are protected as tenants. I wish them the best for their new venture.”

Neville Proctor added: – “We are grateful for the valuable guidance and advice provided by Chris Waterhouse. Starting a new venture like ours can be very daunting, but we have confidence knowing we have the support of Chris and his team.”
