School student Satvik Dey won the state judo competition Achi-News

East Burdwan: School student Satvik Dey won gold in the 50th West Bengal State Judo Championship. He lives in the city of Katwa in East Burdwan district. He practiced karate with his father since childhood. Success has come from several competitions before. This time West Bengal won gold in the State Judo Championship organized at the Vishwa Bangla Convention Center in Kolkata.

The competition was held between 19th and 21st March. While Satvik from Katwar won the first place in the 55 kg category. A total of 19 areas participated there. Apart from East Burdwan, contestants from several districts including Nadia, Murshidabad, East Medinipur, West Medinipur, Darjeeling, Bankura, Howrah, Hooghly participated. The total number of competitors in that competition was 1180 people. Among them Satvik De of Katwar won the gold in the 55 kg event.

Satvik has been learning karate for eight-nine years. Satvik, who won a double gold medal at the international level, said he first started training in karate from his father. Satvik’s father is a karate instructor himself and has been training karate in various parts of East Burdwan district for a long time. Satvik’s father, Tarakchandra Dey, who is selfless with the joy of his son’s success, said, “I want him to grow up and impart this training to others as I have taught him.”
