Guwahati: Rajasthan Royals assistant coach Shane Bond described in-form Ryan Farag as a player of "Extreme talent"Comparing him to a young Suryakumar Yadav.

The 22-year-old Parag brought his wealth of form in domestic cricket to the IPL, scoring two high-quality fifties to help Rajasthan make it three wins in three so far, the latest coming against the Mumbai Indians on Monday night."He kind of reminds me a bit of Syria [Suryakumar]who came to Mumbai a few years ago," Bond, who is also RR’s fast bowling coach, said in the post-match press conference. "He looks like this – he has extreme talent. He is just coming of age as a cricketer, even though he is only 22 years old."

Bond moved to the Royals team this year, after a nine-year stint in Mumbai. He said the Royals set up their lineup this year to get more out of Prague. "He is having an outstanding domestic season, no doubt, and has moved up the order. The trade we made with Devdutt [Padikkal]Bring Abhish [Khan] This was to put Ryan in a position that was probably more appropriate."

Bond said it was unfair to judge Farag on previous seasons, when he had to play the role of finisher at such a young age. "Ryan started so young, you forget he was 17 or so, playing one of the toughest spots in the batting line-up: No. 6. You look at the characters who finish games around the IPL, they’re usually pretty experienced guys. The Tim Davids, David Millers; These are quality players who play international cricket. Ryan was charged with this for several years. He’s still a very young man, but he’s got that wealth of experience behind him now.

"We get the best from him. The investment that RR made in it, it is starting to reap the rewards. It’s pretty exciting what he can offer us for the rest of the season."

Ryan Parag’s promotion to No. 4 is paying dividends for Rajasthan Royals. It’s a familiar position for 22-year-old Prag, who topped the run-scoring charts – with 510 runs at an average of 85 and a strike rate of 182.79 – in the last edition of the Syed Mushtak Ali Trophy. He has carried this form into IPL 2024.

Coming into Monday’s match against Mumbai Indians on the back of an unbeaten 29-ball 43 and 45-ball 84, Parag, with Royals in slight trouble at 42 for 2 chasing 126, kept his cool and dominated them. The line with 54 balls without loss of 39 balls. With 181 runs in three innings, he also became the highest run-getter in IPL 2024 along with Virat Kohli, but ahead in the list because of superior strike rate.

"When I play locally, that’s the exact kind of situation I get into to bat," Pereg told after the game. "When Jos [Buttler] Bhai came out and fire [R Ashwin] Bhai came out a bit after, I was like ‘this is what I do, this is what I have been doing for the last six months playing domestic cricket’. So it was quite simple to calculate everything."

The Royals restricted Mumbai Indians to 125 for 9 but were stunned early by Kawana Mapaka and Akash Madhwal. But Parge continued undaunted and stitched a 40-run stand with Ashwin to reassure the camp.

Farag has been used primarily as a finisher by the Royals in the past, and his returns have been smooth.

"I went three to four years without performing at all," Poppy said. "And you really go back to your hotel room and you think… that when you know you can do something and the gigs don’t come, you go back to painting [board]. I tried to find what was wrong, and I realized that I was not training at this level enough.

"So I came back after the [last] this season and trained very hard, and I think it shows now. I trained [against] Those types of fastballs and those types of scenarios a lot, hence the performances."
