Heating oil price down
Gas price increases on PEI have been accelerating over the past few weeks.
The minimum pump price for gasoline rose 5.7 cents on Friday to $1.83 a litre.
This was the regular weekly price review by the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission.
The price of PEI gas was also up by about a nickel last week, but that paled in comparison to what happened in Ontario, where the media was reporting an increase of 14 to 17 cents overnight.
Ontario prices dropped in the following days. There were no unscheduled changes on PEI, and recent progress in both states is now about the same.
The price of gas on PEI had been rising relatively slowly during the first three months of the year, up 13.8 cents from January 1 to April 1. But it has increased almost exactly the same amount in the last three weeks.
The maximum price of heating oil was down on Friday, falling 4.2 cents to $1.30 a litre.
Diesel price was unchanged at $1.86.
