GUWAHATI: The road leading to Sijubari LP School polling station has become a cause of concern for many senior citizens, making it a challenge for them to exercise their voting rights. The dilapidated condition of the road left voters, especially the elderly, facing accessibility issues on election day.

In a conversation with GPlus, Marzina Begum, a resident of Notboma, over 70 years old, expressed her frustration and said: "We came here from far away, and this road is in a pathetic state. As senior citizens, it is very difficult for us to travel on this road. They should fix the road at least to ensure our comfort."

Dibakar Talukder, an 87-year-old resident of Shankar, expressed his feelings and noted: "If I knew the state of the road, I might have stayed behind. But voting is our right, so I decided to come, even though the road posed challenges, especially for old people like us."

Gaurikanta Medhi, who expressed his concerns, emphasized the importance of addressing the condition of the road, especially considering its location as a school and polling area. "It’s a school, so at least they should fix that road before they make it a ballot," he commented.
